When it comes to woman and politics in Ohio, the facts speak for themselves. In the 200-plus years since the state was established:

• no women have been elected to represent the state in the U.S. Senate, and
• only eight women have been elected to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.
• No woman has ever been elected to serve as governor of the state and only eight have served in statewide executive positions.
• And after peaking at 25% in the 1990s, the percentage of seats held by women in Ohio’s state legislature has dropped to 17.4% (23 women).
